James Brayshaw is returning to calling football on Television, at least for one night only.
Brayshaw will team up with his old mate Bryan Taylor to call this year’s E.J. Whitten Charity Game for the Seven Network. It will be the first time the colourful presenter has appeared on Television since he walked away from hosting The AFL Footy Show late last year.
Brayshaw confirmed the gig telling his Triple M radio audience,
“Lewis Martin (Channel 7’s Managing Director) called me during the week and said, ‘would you like to do it?”
“I was stunned I must admit, because it wasn’t on my radar at all. I said I would love to do it because I think the cause is brilliant and I love the game, Brian and I have called it many times.”
While this is a ‘one night only’ gig, the move has sparked rumours Brayshaw could return to Seven in a more permanent role next year, most likely calling the Sunday afternoon game alongside Taylor. A move that would allow current caller Hamish McLachlan more time to focus on his breakfast radio career.
The EJ Whitten Legends Game will be broadcast live nationally from Friday Sept 1 at 7:30pm AEST on Channel 7, 7mate and Fox Footy.
