The ABC is the home of Australian comedy and April will be full of laughs as we partner up with the Melbourne Comedy Festival for its signature events The Gala, Opening Night Allstars Supershow and The Great Debate. The partnership builds on a longstanding relationship, with the Festival’s Comedy Up Late and Stand & Deliver.

The Gala
Sunday 2 April at 8.30pm on ABC & ABC iview
It’s the biggest night in the comedy calendar, hosted by Wil Anderson, where the finest and funniest from Australia and overseas come together for this special event. The Gala supports the life changing work of Oxfam. This year’s Gala features performances from Paul Foot, Stephen K Amos, Arj Barker, Jason Byrne, Urzila Carlson, Luke McGregor, Joel Creasey and Anne Edmonds.

Opening Night Allstars Supershow
Sunday 9 April at 8.30pm on ABC & ABC iview
Comedy legends and luminaries from around the world take to the stage alongside the freshest and funniest homegrown talent, showcasing the brilliant performers from the Festival. Hosted by Kitty Flanagan, performers include Tom Ballard, Dave Hughes, Hannah Gadsby, David O’Doherty and Jimeoin. 

The Great Debate
Monday 17 April at 8.00pm on ABC & ABC iview
Bear witness to the battle of the biggest comedy brains as two teams fight it out to reign supreme. The topic will be contentious, the competition heated and the comedy world-class.

Comedy Up Late
Thursday 13 April at 9.15pm on ABC2 & ABC iview
Now in its 5th year, this hilarious 10-part series features some of the best and boldest up and coming new talent. This year’s hosts include Ivan Aristeguieta, Nath Valvo, Mel Buttle, Sam Taunton and DeAnne Smith (CAN/USA), as well as sets from side-splitting local and international comedians like Susie Youssef, Daniel Townes, Guy Montgomery (NZ), Tom Walker, Janelle James (USA), Matt Stewart, Fortune Feimster (USA), Laura Davis, Neeti Palta (India), Dane Simpson, Emma Sidi (UK) and many more.

Stand & Deliver
June on ABC ME
A super-sized, super-fun show especially for 8-12 years old, hosted by Susie Youssef and featuring performances from Aunty Donna, Trygve Wakenshaw (NZ) and Ethan Cavanagh and Will McKenna from LoL Squad.

All shows will be available to watch on ABC iview after broadcast.
