ABCTV has confirmed the critically-acclaimed drama Janet King has been commissioned for a third series.
Recent winner of the DeciderTV Award for most Outstanding Actress, Marta Dusseldorp will reprise her role of Janet King, the third series is set to go into production later this year, with the eight-hour drama to air in 2017.
In an interview with this website, Dusseldorp explained why the character of Janet King had been so well embraced by viewers:
“I think they appreciate that she’s a strong, smart and sassy lady who’s not in ‘opposition’ to men. That she’s a strong lesbian woman, who isn’t defined by that, but is absolutely proud of having a family. I think they pick up on those nuances.”
ABC TV’s Acting Head of Fiction Alastair McKinnon says:
“We are delighted to have audience favourite Marta Dusseldorp bring her immense talents back for a third season of thrilling drama in Janet King, where we have plenty of surprises in store.”
