Foxtel announces iQ3 will become available to customers from Monday

After a series of delays, Foxtel have confirmed its highly anticipated iQ3 set-top box will be available to order for new and existing subscribers from Monday, 23 March. 

The device, which Foxtel first formally announced in March of 2013 and had been promised for February but what held back while bugs where removed from the complex new software. 

iQ3 is Foxtel’s most advanced set-top box and features ingenious innovations designed to help subscribers find and enjoy the best in entertainment.

Internet delivered video on the iQ3 will be unmetered for Telstra BigPond Home Broadband customers and Foxtel Broadband customers.

Foxtel is yet to confirm official pricing however this website has previously reported customers will need to pay a $150 upgrade fee to get the new device. Once connected pricing for the device will be the same as the current IQHD service.

The Box will have a one-terabyte hard drive, and includes nine satellite or cable TV tuners built in, allowing customers to watch one show while they record up to four others.

The Foxtel iQ3 will be rolled out nationally; there are two versions of the box, Cable and Satellite. The Satellite version is designed to replace the Regional MyStar box and will include two terrestrial FTA tuners to provide access to local TV services.

Key features set to arrive with iQ3 include  Start Over, giving viewers the ability to go back to the beginning of a show that’s already started so tuning in late is no longer an issue. Look Back lets you scroll back in time up to 24 hours to watch the shows you have missed. And Intelligent discovery features that let subscribers know what’s trending or offers suggested shows based on household viewing. 

Technical specs of the new box include Wi-Fi connectivity so you users can wirelessly connect the iQ3 to the internet. More recording space allowing for up to 345 SD shows. A Bluetooth remote for easy channel browsing anywhere in the room

Foxtel has stated they will provide more information including official pricing, additional features and order details on Monday.
