After what seemed like an endless summer of cricket, the AFL is finally back this week, and the Fox Footy team is hoping for the best year ever.

Mark Thompson, will join the game’s leading commentary team, in another coup for the channel. Thompson said he’s looking forward to the next stage in his AFL career as an expert commentator.

“I enjoyed doing AFL360 over the last three years. When you come in here it doesn’t feel like work. It’s an enjoyable environment. Just getting out of the environment at Essendon and getting here last year, it was just fun.

“One of the reasons I want to stay in footy is because I want people to understand footy better and having recently come out of the game, it’s a lot different to what people see.

“If you watch the AFL, the footy shows are more educational in content and tactics and they really get a good understanding so I want to educate people about footy more,”
