Fox Sports and Network Ten sign new two year MotoGP deal

After sublicensing the 2014 MotoGP season from the Ten Network, Fox Sports has announced a new two-year broadcast agreement with MotoGP for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

The new two-year agreement will see Fox Sports continue its LIVE coverage of all MotoGP World Championship races, Qualifying Practices, Practice Sessions, and all races from the Moto2 & Moto3 categories for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

The new deal also guantantees that MotoGP races will be available live, free and in high definition on Ten Network’s multichannel ONE for the next three years. It also guarantees that the Australian round of the MotoGP World Championship, including qualifying and the race, held at Victoria’s Phillip Island, will be broadcast live and free.

In addition, ONE will feature a pre-race and post-race MotoGP show. Hosted by Greg Rust and expert commentator Daryl Beattie, the pre-race show which will provide a detailed review and expert analysis from the qualifying race, as well as a comprehensive preview of the race.

A thorough post-race review and analysis will also be provided at the end of all 18 races. Every MotoGP race, including the pre-race and post-race shows, will continue to be available via live streaming at www.tenplay.com.au.

Network Ten Head of Sport, David Barham, said: “We are delighted to extend our broadcast deal with Dorna Sports to ensure that Australian motorsport fans can watch all MotoGP races live, free and in high definition. This deal further demonstrates Network Ten’s commitment to premium motorsport.”

Fox Sports CEO, Patrick Delany, said: “Fans have already had a taste of our MotoGP coverage with the first two rounds complete for the 2014 season, but this is just the beginning of what will be a transformational three-year period for the sport on Fox Sports.

“Not only will fans see every race from every Grands Prix including all championship races, support categories, practice, and qualifying events LIVE with no interruptions during the action, we will fire up the red button and second-screen features to deliver an experience like no other.

“Fox Sports now has every motorsport fan covered. The best local product in V8 Supercars from 2015 and the best from around the world now including MotoGP, NASCAR, Indycar, the World Endurance Championship and the Superbike World Championship, all LIVE in High Definition,” said Delany.

The new rights agreement with MotoGP enables Fox Sports to broadcast additional camera feeds and data and timing feeds via digital platforms or the Viewer’s Choice (red button) application.

The 2014 MotoGP season continues LIVE on Fox Sports with the Grand Prix of Argentina from Friday, April 25.
