Weekly Walking Dead Recap With Athruz
There’s nothing indifferent about this
week’s insane twist and turns on the Walking Dead. Carol’s conversation with
Lizzie gets prophetic as Carol admits that if you fight long enough one day
you’ll just change and you don’t have to worry about being scared anymore.
Carol heads out on a run with Rick and one
of them may not make it back. Daryl, Bob, Michonne and Tyreese take a casual
jaunt through the woods after last week’s episode when Zombies overran the car.
Tyreese goes to town on a rampant strand of ivy disguising a hidden building
until the undead caught in the web of vines snarls out of the wild trap and
attacks Bob and Tyreese. Michonne brandishes a sword and severs an attacker’s
head saving Bob. Tyreese seems hell bent on dragging everyone down with him as
his internal struggle with the loss of Karen takes its toll.
Rick’s stoicism makes for a silent road
partner as Carol jabbers away about her recent barbeque. In a nearby town Rick
and Carol find some friendly neighbors who are gimped out with a leg and
shoulder injury. Their pleasant loving demeanors are short-lived.
Talk of the Governor brings Michonne and
Tyreese to some emotional acceptance. With some struggling and gurgling and a few
quick jabs to the brain Zombies clinging to their afterlife are rendered
useless.
Carol’s strength is becoming a hindrance
and a liability and it’s uncertain if Rick is excited to share the throne.
Bob’s admission of guilt leads to talks of
a drinking problem while Daryl’s wrench man skills fashion a new ride out of an
old heap. With the big score of medicinal supplies no one knows if a return to
the prison with provisions will make any difference.
Rick and Carol’s scavenger hunt leads to a
few valuable finds and the discovery of a major difference between these two
potential team leaders. Carol’s ready to accept what’s done is done. Rick has
his reservations.
As abandoned tomatoes are ripe for the
picking Rick learns a thing or two about Carol’s handiwork when it comes to
patching up old injuries and letting go of her hurtful past. Survival is
Carol’s greatest asset and one she’s cultivated over a lifetime of marital abuse
and the loss of her daughter. Shortly, the honeymoon is over for the
happy-go-lucky taggers-on as a compass points to a severed leg and fresh Zombie
snacks. Rick’s silent struggle masks an inner turmoil.
Meanwhile, Bob tempts a horde of ravenous
face-eaters with a backpack full of relief risking life and limb of those
trying to pull him to safety. When the contents are revealed it’s apparent
Bob’s drinking days are far from over.
Rick reverts to making the tough decisions
and Carol’s survival skills have finally left her alienated and with no home to
return to.
Michonne’s getting the full picture that Governor
hunting is often without its rewards and Carol’s parting gift is a timely
affair. Bob’s bottle can’t fix all silent moments as three vehicles on three
separate journeys with contemplative passengers buckled into the long and
winding road head off for the long haul.
