An interesting image has
emerged online highlighting the UI of the new Foxtel iQ3.
The image depicts the new
modern menu layout and lists items including Store and Apps. The image has fuelled speculation that Foxtel
are planning to provide an open API for developers in a bid to encourage app
development for the new set top box.
It is the goal of Foxtel that
iQ3 will becomes the centre of the Home Viewing Experience.
As well as including
extensive catchup of Foxtel programming, its believed iQ3 will include catchup
apps for ABC IView, SBS On Demand, TenPlay, 7Plus, and the yet to be revealed
new app from the Nine Network.
Speaking about the new iQ3, Foxtel Chief Executive Richard Freudenstein
said.
“IQ3 will be a truly revolutionary box. It
won’t be launched for a little while yet, but as we are building one of the
most technologically advanced set‐top boxes in the world”
“This is the perfect example of a seamless
combination of broadcast and broadband to create a better viewing experience.”
The Foxtel iQ3 will launch in mid 2014
