Syfy HD set to launch on @Foxtel early in 2014.

David Knox from the TVTonight blog is this
morning reporting that the NBCUniversal owned channel Syfy HD is set to launch on
Foxtel early in 2014.

Set to be part of Foxtel’s Drama & Lifestyle
pack, it will screen classic science fiction and fantasy programming in High
Definition and will fill the void left by the exit of the TV1-owned SciFi
channel, which departs on December 31st.

No announcement has yet been made as to how
Foxtel plans to replace the general entertainment TV1 channel that also departs
the Foxtel lineup on 31st of December.

Universal Networks International is currently
working on the Australian Syfy HD programming line-up and a full announcement
confirming the channel’s line-up will be made in the coming weeks.

Past NBCUniversal Syfy original programming has
included Warehouse 13, Haven, Being Human, Defiance, and
most famously
Battlestar
Galactica

In
recent years Syfy has gained attention by producing ‘B Grade’ movies such as
SharkNado, These ‘Made for TV’ movies typically have a budget of 1 million
dollars and air on a Saturday Night.

Syfy will also be available on Foxtel Play,
Foxtel GO, Foxtel on T-Box and Foxtel on Telstra Mobile.
