10’s big boss Bev McGarvey is currently sharing some major news with employees as the network struggles with bad ratings and financial pressures.

Sources have told TV Blackbox an internal staff announcement was delivered earlier by Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer, Paramount Australia and New Zealand, Bev McGarvey, of changes to the morning line-up and possible job cuts.

The news out of 10 is not good with the 8:00am 10 News First Breakfast being chopped after launching earlier this year in June to low audiences.

Ratings plagued Studio 10 will now air from 10:00am – midday after the departure of original host Sarah Harris. She is leaving the show to replace Carrie Bickmore over on The Project.

10 will introduce a new midday hour-long national news bulletin hosted by Narelda Jacobs starting on Monday January 9th.

Confirming TV Blackbox’s reporting, Narelda said in a statement from the network:

“Talk about hitting the ground running in 2023. I’m thrilled to be able to share the world’s big moments on Studio 10, then deliver the day’s biggest headlines on 10 News First: Midday

“When viewers stop to catch a breath at midday, I’ll be there with an exciting new national bulletin alongside some of the country’s best reporters.”

10’s head of Broadcast News, Martin White added:

“10 News First: Midday expands our news footprint throughout the day, bringing viewers the latest information and breaking news live. “It’s a multi-platform bulletin, to satisfy the need for on-demand Australian news content wherever you are.”

Staff have been told by McGarvey that she can’t promise there will be no job losses at the ailing network.

The news comes as the troubled network comes fourth in the 2022 ratings with its lowest share ever since the introduction of OzTAM.

A string of failures has also hurt the bottom line with the Daily Mail reporting that according to filings with ASIC, the Paramount owned network booked a bottom-line loss for calendar year 2020 of $3.4 million.

The new morning line-up on 10 in 2023 will be as follows:

Everyday Gourmet With Justine Schofield – 8.00am–8:30am

Entertainment Tonight (Repeat) – 8:30am-9.00am

Judge Judy – 9.00am-9:30am

The Bold and the Beautiful (Repeat) – 9:30am-10.00am

Studio 10 – 10.00am-12.00pm

  1. Go Woke and you’ll go broke!

Bev McGarvey should be the first to go. If she was at any other network overseeing such bad decisions she definitely wouldn’t be there now!

  2. Aside from the job losses (which no one wants) I don’t think this is bad. A midday news bulletin makes more sense than the morning one that tried to compete with the breakfast shows and would never be dominant in winning that slot. Cutting back studio 10 is good too, the shows content currently is sparse and a shorter 2 hour program will be a better use of resources and a hopefully better format.

  3. I think Narelda Jacobs was part of the reason Studio 10 went downhill. She is very opinionated and has become more so since she joined the show. I think the channel would be better off without her and Denise Dryesdale.

  4. No thought about Natasha Exelby, she would be far better than Narelda Jacobs, or are you just doing that for Racism reasons 🤔

  5. Network Ten has a lot of problems with its morning lineup. Unfortunately, Channel 10 have never recovered in the mornings after GMA ended production in early 2006. Their big problem was chopping and changing programs. They tried Breakfast in 2012 (but got the axe 9 months later) and 10 Eyewitness News Early/Wake up in November 2013 (But also got hte axe 6 months later) and 10 News First: Breakfast in 2022 (but sadly the ratings were extremely low, smashed by Sunrise, Today Show, ABC News Breakfast, ABC Kids).
It wasn’t the first time that Channel 10 had their news at Midday. Back in 2004, CHannel 10 had their news at Midday, which backfired. As a reuslt, it was reverted back to 11:30am.

  6. Will not be watching News at 12.00. I agree Neralda is too opinionated and without feeling. Tristan is great and so is Beau.
They’re honest and funny. Will watch Studio 10 but that’s the only time I switch on.

  7. I would switch channels whenever Narelda Jacobs or Daniel Doody came on screen. I got so tired of Narelda’s inarticulate opinions and Doody just tried way too hard. Much prefer Natasha Exelby …….she’s a breath of fresh air. Think “10 News First” failed as no one really knew it was on and were already tuned in to alternate channels.
Love Tristan and his wife (separately)….not together on the couch

  8. When’s The Project going to get the flick? That’s Mouth watering not having that farce on TV for an hour at night..

  9. Why would they even consider Judge Judy and Bold & Beautiful..my God talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel 😳
I enjoy the morning program but not that rubbish.

    • They are already screening each day, so they are just moving where they are screened. Not much difference there. Bold & Beautiful repeats was at 7.30am and they are moving it to 9.30-10am. Judge Judy has been at 3pm and they are moving it 9.00-9.30am, then it may be another episode screened at 3pm as well. They have to fill the time some how (viewers or not).

  10. Please listen to the loyal viewers before there are none left. Studio 10 was once very successful. Bring back the panel led by Ang. Narelda is sadly not popular and this is a poor decision. Read the comments to understand what the people want or risk losing another good show.

  11. Instead of trying to compete with other more successful channels, why not change the format to a purely entertainment show with Angela and Craig hosting. 10 needs to be different from other channels. Maybe even feature live acts during the show? 10 used to be innovative- what happened?

  12. I LOVED STUDIO 10 BUT IT DID NEED A REFRESH SARAH LEAVING ASHAME BUT GOOD ON HER BUT I HOPE TRISTAN AND HIS WIFE DON’T COME BACK TRISTAN VOICE IS SO SCRATCHY I CAN’T WATCH IT ALL THE TIME SO BEV COMING IN IS GOOD NARELDA CONGRATULATIONS TO ARE A BEAUTIFUL PERSON I WILL MISS SOME OF THE NEWS READERS LACHLAN AND NATASHA CAN’T WAIT TO WATCH THE NEW SHOW NEXT YEAR YEAH

    • Bev isn’t hosting the show. She is one of the bosses of 10 and Paramount. Tristan is still hosting the show, probably with Angela. Maybe sometimes Jess Eva, Narelda or his wife Tahyna.

  13. Incessant and relentless self promos. Almost every ad break it’s new shows for 2023 – the latest trash TV, “The Bachelor” is a huge turn off. Perpetual reruns of Friends, Big Bang, Becker – same spisodes three to four times a day? Nothing original anymore.

I’m over free to air TV and everyone I talk to says the same thing.

  14. When studio 10 was about a panel, real conversation and not the Tristan show it was great. Bring back the people who had interesting things to say with an audience. Angela should host it..she’s likeable and interesting. Channel 10 started to crash when they moved Neighbours to 11. Only thing worth watching these days is bold and sport for sport lovers. They should listen to their viewers they might have more. I feel for the people who left or lost their jobs due to poor management decisions. These days channels 30, 32, 34, and 44 (31) are more interesting/entertaining. 🤔 Hopefully they sell channel 10 and the new buyer listens to the people. Hopefully they have some viewers left by then.
