With a glorious and rich amount of new content for 2021 (and even 2022), it is no surprise that several ‘on the bubble’ shows were officially not renewed for next year.

My Kitchen Rules and House Rules have been a staple on the Australian television schedule for years, but as Seven refreshes, updates and energizes its future schedule, these long-running formats have come to an end.

In an era of reboots and rehashing of older formats, it seems likely these two shows will resurface in one way or another in future years, particularly because the networks internal production arm Seven Studios owns the rights.

Plate of Origin, Pooch Perfect and Between Two Worlds were victims of low ratings in 2020 and will not return next year. There are also no plans to return First Dates Australia to the schedule.

Seven’s Upfronts were all about content, content and more content. With a raft of announcements including Holey Moley, Ultimate Tag, RFDS, The Voice, Australian Gangster, Australia’s Got Talent as well as Australian Idol for 2022, the network has a number of primetime “tentpoles” that collectively and undoubtedly will increase share, demographics and very likely return Seven to #1.

Seven have content bursting out of the seams to support these tentpoles and were able to reveal to TV Blackbox the other new and returning shows for 2021 that were not made part of the upfront presentation.

  1. What happened to the last two episodes of Between Two Worlds. Why weren’t they shown and how do I get to see them. The last episode shown was the ending where a gun was fired pointed at Georgia

    • Hi Michele – Seven showed every episode, including the finale, of Between Two Worlds this year. Unfortunately it didn’t draw enough viewers so a resolution from the end of season cliffhanger will not be made.

  2. Well now we know exactly how Seven feel about loyal viewers. Don’t give a damn do they. How would they like to watch all but two of a season they had been enjoying and be left hanging. Thanks Seven I’ll remember this.

    • Totally agree with you Pauline, I also enjoyed that show, and wish that 7 had of continued the series.
There were plenty of twists and turns further that could have been plotted for this series.
So disappointed myself in ch 7,

  3. If you want to find out how Between Two Worlds ended you’ll have to buy the recently released DVD.

    • What is on the DVD different to what was shown on telly? Did they film an alternate interview? Was there commentary over the last episode that explains something? Bonus interview?

  4. I watched the show and loved it, please bring it back it is better than all those other shows at least there was a story line. Unfortunately it left us all hanging how could you do that. Not happy Diane

  5. I loved Between Two Worlds. One of the best Aussie made shows ever. I will hesitate to watch another series on chanel seven in case that also gets whipped off on the whim of panel of judges who don’t know or care what the viewer want. Use your sense and return it in full. Thank you in anticipation .
